My Old Writings Might be Better than any NEW ones?

((I wrote this in 2007, thinking about how I used to work at Knott's Berry Farm as a Ride Operator, but really thinking about my dearest, my Partner, my love. I took a huge frog LEAP and fell in love))

Love.

I believe in love.

I have not yet figured it out...

I try.

If it's a potion,

The formula alludes me.

If it is a set of steps, directions, a recipe...

I lack the knack of putting it together

Without a recipe card

like a wise grandma could.

I've been lucky.

Blessed.

I didn't cruise bars but Love found me. Unexpectedly. Miraculously.

I get ill on roller coasters but still I stand in line

If it's with a friend, for the ride.

To rise to the sky

To think I'm gonna die

What if the thing breaks? Or the car goes off the track?

To feel that queasy feeling

Again and again and ….

To think the waves will knock me over at Seal Beach

But when I am with you, you laugh, half scared, and pull me deeper out to sea.

And I go…

Just like my Nordstrom's balance.

To impress you.

Flying miles back and forth.

Who knew the money we spent?

For love.

Love IS like the wild ocean,

Always changing.

Always flowing.

Love is like an amusement park, open all hours.

Memories priceless, ride operator boots on, scuffed, happy.

"Enjoy the riiiiiidde!"
